Good Morning everybody or should I say good afternoon to most of you.  While I was dreaming about god know what’s last night my robot was working really hard for me all night long. Robot…what Derk? Well let me explain I have set up a sales funnel that allows me to constantly bring qualified leads to my door step 24/7 all while I’m living my life or sleeping in this case.

I have to tell you that it sure does be the hell out of the old way I used to do it, by the way that way didn’t work lol. Our team has been plugged into some of the biggest leaders in this industry over the last 8 months and I have to tell you we’ve had a paradigm shift in thinking and more importantly RESULTS!!!

I know the biggest problem today’s Network Marketer’s are facing is simply they don’t have enough LEADS.  I laugh when I hear people want to be successful net-workers but they aren’t willing to change what HASN’T been working at all thus far. Truly successful people are willing to be humbled and are teachable…that’s all it takes to really get ahead in life. Often times the people that are the most critical, are the ones that don’t have any results to speak of.

When most of us got involved in this crazy industry, we heard all the stories of building a global empire from the comfort of our home office, right?  Well I don’t know about you, but for most people, me included, that global empire didn’t happen very quickly.  More importantly, it really only happens through luck.  Someone in your downline knows someone in Germany and the rest is history.  Great, but do you really have a global business?  Not really, you just have product flowing there, you don’t really have any connection with that person.

Now option 2 is that you can be an international traveler and you can visit every country on the planet establishing a business presence there.  For most people, this isn’t even close to possible.  So where does that leave you?

Simple, you can build a global empire from home using the power of the internet.

The key is using niche marketing to target other networkers or those interested in becoming networkers who are looking for solutions to their problems.  Don’t speak German?  Do a little research on internet marketing methods in Germany, use Google Translate to put the info in German and start strategizing a campaign.  Find out what the most popular social networking site in that country is and join it.  Facebook, for example, is expanding rapidly all over the globe.  You can do all of this without leaving the comfort of your home office.  In many countries you can also do test marketing in English since English is a mainstream second language amongst the younger generations.

Now, this task may seem daunting, but we have the tools to help you be successful.  I currently communicate with people all over the world on social networking sites and via email without speaking a word of their native tongue.  The greatest opportunity in networking today is in developing and emerging countries.  Unlike the Western World that has become government and corporate dependent, entrepreneurism is alive and well globally.  If you aren’t thinking about expanding globally, you are missing a huge opportunity!

Ok so maybe I didn’t really almost reach the end of my earthly life for real but I was at the door step of real MLM DEATH. I’m speaking very figuratively of course but you get my point. I had began my career in an amazing company that was growing at the speed of light, no matter the amount of work I put in (And It Was A LOT) it duplicated 100 fold, in other words it was a  juggernaut.  I thought wow my MLM dreams had finally come true , I had a business that was duplicating on it’s own I was finally making money 24/7 no matter what I was doing and it was in the $25,000.00+ a month range. In a few simple words life was good. I really wasn’t trading time for money…FREEEEEEDDDOOOMMM!

So let’s fast forward a couple of years and this is where the end of my MLM life almost happened. The once powerful juggernaut that commanded respect at the mere mention of it’s name, my business was now struggling to keep it’s head above water. Now let me admit that it’s downfall had nothing to do with the leaders or products in which my team and I marketed in fact they are the best around in their class as far as I’m concerned. I heard a great quote a while ago and it rings very true ” What got us here, Won’t get us there” this in my opinion can be used in almost any facet of business.

No matter how successful a person or company is at some point we have to reinvent ourselves and our business approaches. Let’s use a little company you might have heard of “Kodak” now for my day job I work on a T.V. show so I know how film was being used in Hollywood on a daily basis films, T.V. , Commercials, you name it “Kodak” filmed it. Who would have ever thought they would have to reinvent themselves, BILLIONS of dollars a year & so branded that as far as I knew they were the only people I thought made film…not really but you get my point. Then came DRUM ROLL PLEASE Digital Media!  So Kodak had a choice either embrace change and completely change their  products and marketing approach or…..GO OUT OF BUSINESS!

So as my former MLM body was laying on the gurney and I could here the doctors fervishly trying to do everything they could to save me I realized at that moment that me and only me had the power to bring myself back. I knew there would be rehabilitation involved but dammit life is good and I’m not ready to give up YET! So there I was standing at the door my choice simple enter the after-life or turn around and finish what I started.

Let’s go back about 8 months ago, I gathered some of my team that also had fought off near death and decided to figure out what was working and how to incorporate it in today’s Internet savvy world. Frankly the old techniques weren’t working anymore and I wasn’t really fond of them anyway. I mean really who wants to give meetings hotel, home etc. anymore anyway. I was looking to free up my life and time not get another full time job, because I already had that..thank you.

So what did we do?

We read and networked with every leader we could find, read their books listened to audios joined clubs you name it we did it sometimes up to 12 hours a day to find out what was really really really working out there. Because the truth is that although the people that we were mentored by both personally and buy buying their courses we found out they were selling us yesterday’s VCR’s and they all had the Blue Ray Players, now understand that in no way shape or form did I feel that we got ripped off in fact quit the contrary. See everybody starts from somewhere and for us somewhere was learning the foundation in which to build from, and sorry to say it folks but there is just no easy way to get overnight results.

People often ask me advice on becoming a professional actor and if they should “Give It A Shot” I love hearing this one. You know the story they are good looking or funny or won Ms. Teen USA or whatever their story is. Often times people get discoverd in a Subway eating a freakin sandwich and never even wanted to be and actor. Just so you know that make us veteran’s CRINGE…but oh well that’s life right. So back to the advice I give them. I say well “John or Susie” let me put it to you this way. 1% of the Screen Actors Guild makes more that $7.000.00 dollars a year and first put every movie star you can think of on that list and then think of every T.V. show on the air and that’s what the 1% percent looks like. Now if you can handle a life of not knowing where your next dollar comes from constant rejection, or if you’ll ever even get one job and pretty much have to work odd jobs along the way, maybe spend your 20′s & 30′s building your career that is as delicate as  a house of cards & could fall apart with a mere shift in the wind…..and none of that scares you then you are like me and I would say give it your all.

What I’m saying is my MLM life wasn’t any diffrent than that. You have to make a decesion to be successful then take “MASSIVE ACTION” to make it happen. Anything short of that will deliver mediocer results at best. Surround yourself with successful people change your habbits DEMAND SUCESS at any cost. No…This isn’t a pitch for a Biz Opp or Marketing System. It’s just a generic overview of what’s out there for the average person wanting to start a business, but no idea on what is available.

You basically have 4 major business models that MOST people can do. What I’m going to do is break them down and give some advantages and disadvantages.

Traditional Brick and Mortar Business

The bread and butter of the American Entrepreneur!  This is the most popular business model of past generations and is still wildly popular today.  Virtually anyone with an idea and some ambition can hang their shingle out, so to speak, and be in business.  From a car lot to a restaurant to a toy store, this is what created the most economic growth in the US and many other countries.

Advantages:

You have total control over your business, you can set your own hours (But if you’re not open, you’re not making money!), you may not need employees, you can sell your own products or other people’s.

Disadvantages:

You will probably need to purchase land and a building, lots of potential overhead, no established business or marketing plan, you will probably have to work long hours.

Online Traditional Business

You can take your brick and mortar business and move it on the Internet, or you can establish an Internet only business.  This option is becoming much more prevalent as we all know.  And each year, there are more opportunities to build a business online.  Say for example you like making candles.  You can build a website and start selling your candles around the world.

Advantages

Like a traditional brick and mortar business, you have total control over your business.  In this case though, you really can set your own hours because by using the automation provided by the web, your products can be selling while you are asleep.  And unless you manufacture something, you may not even need employees.

Disadvantages

You still need a product or service that you either have to make or buy from someone else, and you will have to come up with your own business and marketing plan.  You create some leverage by being able to be open 24 hours a day, but you will have to process orders, ship them and restock your merchandise.

Franchising

This offers some great advantages and is becoming a very popular form of business ownership.  It allows you to leverage the your sales and marketing efforts from an established brand, and you will have a customized business plan that is already proven to work.  In return for this, you will have very significant upfront costs.

Advantages

Slightly less control over your business as your franchise license requires you to run your business a certain way.  An established, proven business and marketing plan.  You will be able to leverage some of your personal time because you will now have managers in your business.  And you have the ability to purchase more franchises if you’re successful

Disadvantages

Upfront costs for many successful franchises will be in the millions of dollars, lots of employee costs such as unemployment, workers compensation, and heath care.  You will have a large investment in a location where the local demand could change over time.  High monthly overhead costs.  And it may be difficult to sell the business.

Now, before we move on to the last business model, let’s talk about this thing called leverage.  Leverage has a lot of different meanings, but lets take it in the context of your personal time and money.

Why does a person who owns a store hire a sales manager and a sales force?  Why don’t they just do all the selling themselves and save the salary and commission?  Because by hiring a sales force, they are able to duplicate their efforts and create simultaneous sales.  Like creating a bunch of clones, when trained properly and ethically, to grow the enterprise.  This is leverage.

So, let’s take a brief moment and think about how we could create the best form of business out of all the advantages and none of the disadvantages of the previous 3.  Here’s the list of advantages summarized.

• Set my own hours
• Have an established business and marketing plan
• Only have employees if I wanted them, but I wouldn’t need them
• Business would run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with or without me
• You could run the business globally using a laptop computer & an Internet connection
• Could have as many franchises as you want for very low cost
• Sell other people’s products or your own
• Recruit and train the sales team you want using your ideal hiring criteria

10 years ago, this ideal business didn’t exist.  But thanks to a little invention called The Internet, it exists and is creating success for people each and every day.  This business model is called

Online Network Marketing

Now, you probably have the perception that network marketing involves going door to door selling toothpaste or bugging all your friends to do something they don’t want to do.

WRONG!

Honestly, if you had a BMW dealership, would you hire some of your friends to be your top sales rep?  I know I wouldn’t!  The internet has allowed us to segment and market to groups like never before.  We can now find customers who are looking for our product, and we can recruit people from all over the world who are the ideal fit for our team.  No different than if you were hiring salespeople for your business.

This ain’t your Granddaddy’s MLM opportunity.

The bottom line is this.  Any of the business models we have talked about today are viable options for you as a budding entrepreneur.  But if you want to realize true leverage, Internet Network Marketing may be the best fit.  It is cheaper to start than a brick & mortar or franchise business, it will have an established business & marketing plan, and you will have the mentorship benefits like franchising as you will be working on a team with successful people interested in your success.

Don’t Make Network Marketing Any More Complicated Than It Is.

By using the power of the internet, you can market to the entire world with your product or service, you can build a sales team that reaches across all hemispheres, and you can create a customer base in any country you choose.

You can leverage your efforts and your time by finding like minded people to join you in your quest.  No matter what some out there may say, Networking in the 21st Century isn’t your Granddaddy’s MLM.



Okay, so lets walk through the life of the average beginning network marketer.  I think it goes something like this…Bill goes to a home meeting with 9 other people, he was hesitant to go, but his buddy Jim talked him into it as a favor.  After the presentation, 7 of the people leave and 3 stay behind with questions.  Bill is one of the people that stays, and you can see on his face “he gets it”.  Bill’s head rotated about 3 times when he saw the power of the business plan and what the possibilities could be.  Great, now what?

So the next day, Bill calls everyone he knows and tells them about this great product and business plan he saw last night, how he is going to change the world and live on a beach for the rest of his life.  I love Bill’s enthusiasm, but much like a sprint racer, Bill is going to be good for about 100 yards, not a 20+ mile marathon.  Why?  Because 70-80% of the people that Bill talks to are going to tell him he’s crazy, those things don’t work, etc.

Why Networking?

Over the years that I have been involved in this industry, I have been asked many times why in the world I would get involved in what many uninformed people call a “pyramid scam”. 

Early in my networking career, I feared that question, because I think I hadn’t completely overcome my belief that it wasn’t. 

I finally had an epiphany one day and realized that not only is networking the most efficient business model in existence, it is the most level playing field out there where anyone who wants can be a winner.

Like most people, I have worked hard my whole life. 

 I have been very blessed to have held some excellent  jobs.

I do this because I truly love what I do, and it offers flexibility for me to run my business full time and lead my team with my partners. 

But lets face it, corporate America is the largest pyramid scam of all.  I work for a company that has tens of thousands of employees all over the world.  Even though I am fairly highly educated by today’s standards, my chances of becoming CEO, let alone a VP are about slim to none.  More importantly, I would have very little control over that happening.

 Networking, done correctly, offers the opportunities that existed for the average person before WalMart and other super conglomerates came into existence.  Back to the days of old where a person could hang out a shingle and be in business.  There was a simple efficiency to it. 

 In every small town there was a general store, a blacksmith, a lawyer, a doctor, and of course a tavern, just to name a few.  As a small business owner, I competed with other small business owners and it was a level playing field.

Success in Network Marketing?

Congratulations on seeking out new and innovative ways to grow your business, it shows you are part of the 3% crowd!

Not too long ago I was a frustrated network marketer. Like most people, I completely believed in the concept, and saw the power of residual income and duplication. Unfortunately, there were a few problems. First, I was spending time talking to people who had absolutely no interest in the message I was trying to convey. Most people are so beaten down by society, they cannot see themselves as being successful. Simply put, many people today just accept their station in life and believe what they are told that they can’t have everything they want.

Now to put this a bit in perspective, it hasn’t always been this way. In the not so distant past, small business ownership and rugged entrepreneurism ruled the land in many countries. In some emerging countries today this is still the case.

Unfortunately, many people today have accepted their fate in life and have chosen mediocrity over excellence. While the Good Samaritan in all of us would like to help these people, we can’t until they make a decision to change.

COME ON TELL ME ALREADY!!

Want to know the secret to building a huge network marketing downline. The secret is so simple but everyone, including me up until yesterday, over-complicates and makes harder than it needs to be. Understanding this one secret will drastically change your income level and your downline almost overnight. When I realized how simple this secret is, yet, how powerful, I had to go to my sphere of influence and get their opinion on it. By the way, my sphere of influence included 4 individuals that have made multiple millions of dollars in network marketing.

Are You Ready for The Secret?

Here is what I know. When you hear what the secret is you will try to negate it. You will try to over-complicate it and say it isn’t really. You will tell me that you think it is more important to buy mlm leads or invest in fancy software. You will tell me that you don’t need to do what this secret tells you to do or that it doesn’t apply to you or that this secret is outdated.

The Secret is…

If you are in network marketing, you are really in the event promotion business. If you can only do one thing for your business it would be to attend events and if you could do two things it would be to invite people to events. First, let’s hear what some folks that have made millions of dollars in network marketing have to say.

Jake Kevorkian is a legend in network marketing for multiple reasons but I will only talk about one. When he was introduced to Network marketing he was actually in a city where almost everyone had heard of his company and was already in it. When his upline suggested he move to another state, Jake did, and then went on to become the number one income earner in his MLM. (Jake is also mentioned in the book “Distributor Rights” written by MLM Watchdog Rod Cook). Jake says, “Not everyone that attends company events will go on to become a 5 figure a month earner, but, anyone who IS to to make 5 figures a month SHOW UP at company events.” Jake goes on to say that the number one reason to attend events is to solidify your belief. “The stronger your belief, the more powerful you become presenting the business.”

Burke Hedges is an absolute legend in network marketing. From being a top distributor in multiple companies, To date Burke’s books have sold more than 4 million copies and been translated into 20 different languages. Burke says “The number one reason to attend events is simply to achieve your goals faster with the least amount of effort.”

Dave Lovett is a veteran of network marketing. His first company that he has not been actively involved in for over 22 years since provides him a massive residual income. Talk about success! Dave says “Major decisions are made at major events, those that do not attend set their businesses back 6 months to a year in relation to those who do attend.”

Here is my take

I gathered a lot of good information talking with those 3 gentlemen and a few others. Here is what I came up with on reasons why one should never, ever miss company or big events.

1) I am an internet marketer. Being an internet marketer sometimes it is difficult to dream up content. By attending big events where leaders are going to be, you get to shoot great video, interviews, pictures and have the inside scoop on your company. This online real estate is priceless and if someone was looking to join a company, do you think they would join with someone who attended the big company event and has pictures and the inside scoop or someone who stayed at home and played on facebook?

2) Learn marketing tips. With network marketing companies spanning a large area, it is not very often that ALL of the leaders are in one easy to access spot. Imagine being able to go up to every one of the leaders and ask them their biggest marketing tip, would that help your business?

3) Create partnerships. One of the most powerful ways I have used big events is to connect with people I have met or actually sponsored from the Internet. This creates a much more powerful bond that just someone you online chat with every once in awhile.

Big events are rarely about motivation. If you are not motivated enough about your opportunity, it probably isn’t the right one for you. Big events are to take future leaders and get them there quicker or take existing leaders and get better connected with and closer masterminding with their existing team. I can trace every single spike I have had in my network marketing company back to me attending an event. Please feel free to comment below on any good things YOU have gotten out of events.

Is success a state of mind? What separates an average person from an extraordinary person? What makes one person excel while another seems to fail at every corner? These are question that each of us ask ourselves on a daily basis and weather you realize it or not this is the root of attraction marketing. I have to go back to a book that I’ve read a few times “Think And Grow Rich”, I take that back I downloaded it to my I-Pod and listen to it when ever I travel. My point is that long before I was a successful person, I wanted to be a successful person. And long before I ever read Napoleon Hills book I was already programing my mindset with leadership skills. Now like a big lump of play dough I had not yet sculpted my future or for that matter a plan for success. What I did understand was that I had been given the same opportunity as everyone else and if I wanted to make a better life for myself than I had to EARN it. I don’t know about you but I was never given anything in my life I had to scrap for everything I’ve ever achieved. Understand I’m not complaining in fact just the opposite, I learned early on if you want something then you have to earn it plain and simple.

Fast forward a few years, I moved to L.A. did everything from clean carpets to wash dishes so I understand the meaning of hard work for mediocore pay. I know most of us do by the way. Anyway 17 years later I have carved out a very successful carrer in Hollywood as a working actor if you want to know the details check out my story . So the lesson I learned was if you worked hard and stayed the course, you could have anything you wanted. Well almost anything I alway’s wished I could dunk a basketball but that just wasn’t in the cards for me but you get my point.

My Crazy MLM career begins

Now this is a chapter of my life I couldn’t have predicted would happen. One of my best friends call’s me up one day and says give me your credit card. Like any good friend I did..LOL. I had no idea he had just changed my life forever by signing me up in an MLM opportunity.  I realized very quickly that I loved this business, I was able to help people get what they wanted and the by product of that was I got everything I wanted.
